What is CAPEDD?

 

ACOG is an official Economic Development District (EDD) as designated by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). EDDs  are multi-jurisdictional entities, commonly composed of multiple counties and in certain cases even cross-state borders. They help lead the locally-based, regionally driven economic development planning process that leverages the involvement of the public, private and non-profit sectors to establish a strategic blueprint or economic development roadmap for regional collaboration.

In 2010, the City of Oklahoma City asked ACOG to pursue federal designation as an EDD. The designation was achieved with the completion of Central Oklahoma’s first CEDS in 2013 and in 2019, ACOG branded the district the Capital Area Economic Development District of Oklahoma or CAPEDD and updated it CEDS.

Since designation in 2013, ACOG has assisted with FOUR grant applications to U.S. EDA. The projects by year include:

City of Moore

YEAR: 2013
PROJECT: Securing personnel to assist the City of Moore in the disaster recovery efforts following a deadly tornado.

PROJECT: Support existing partnership efforts to drive primary job growth by strengthening outreach and image building capabilities and supporting public-private partnership strategic planning implementation.

PROJECT: Provide street improvements to improve access and circulations that will benefits a large medical and office sector in Oklahoma City.

PROJECT: Purchase equipment and other materials to support the University’s expanding allied healthcare programs
