Short-Range Transportation Planning

The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a cooperatively developed four-year program outlining multimodal transportation improvements and services to be implemented within the ACOG Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) area. The ACOG MPO TIP is prepared biennially by ACOG in its role as the MPO for transportation planning in Central Oklahoma.

The TIP is prepared in cooperation with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), local transit providers, and area airports as required by federal surface transportation law. It is prepared under the guidance of the ACOG MPO Technical and Policy Committees, and is submitted to the Governor, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) through the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT).

The TIP is designed to meet the following purposes:

• To serve as a short-range implementation tool to achieve compliance with the goals of the long-range Metropolitan Transportation Plan
• To establish a prioritization of projects to effectively utilize federal funds as they become available
  To identify and implement transportation improvements which will reduce congestion, increase mobility and safety, and enhance the region’s air quality
• To identify proposed transportation projects by mode, type of improvement, funding source(s), and geographic area
• To estimate the costs of projects proposed for federal funding, consistent with the federal funds anticipated to be available to the area

Upon completion of the TIP, it is sent to ODOT and is included in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). Information on ODOT’s STIP can be found here

ACOG’s eTracker

ACOG’s eTRACKER is an electronic version of the TIP document. The website represents the current TIP at any given time. It provides the user with the most up to date information and project listings. Within the public website the ‘Map’ tab can be used to drill down to a project location and selected for more detail, or the ‘Advanced Search’ tab can be selected to query by various project details.
